“At the end of the summer of 2021, my wife and I, surrounded by our family and closest friends, were married on the grounds of the Hotel Washington on Washington Island. The ceremony took place in the back of the hotel between two giant oak trees where we constructed an arbor made of island driftwood and decorated with wildflowers grown on the island at Hoot Blossom Farm. From start to finish, it was a spectacular event and while we take some credit for being really good at getting married, the real accolades belong to the crew at the Hotel Washington. I worked in the catering industry for over a decade and worked sometimes 40 weddings a year, from tiny backyard affairs to ones that involved helipads and Arabian horses. A wedding, no matter the size and expense, is not just a fun party, but it certainly should be that too. A lot goes into the day and working with Amanda and Matt leading up to it was so smooth and they had such a great vision for the event that dovetailed with our own. We loved their suggestions for the menu and the execution of the ceremony and the dinner was stunning. The day brought together so much of what we love about Washington Island; the creativity, the community, and the local flavor -- of the ingredients for the dinner, overwhelmingly grown on the island -- and the experience itself. The service, presentation, and attention to detail throughout the entire day was outstanding and we always felt in good hands with Amanda and her team work. It was an amazing and important day for us and our guests and I am so happy that we chose the Hotel Washington for our special day.”

“Our wedding at Hotel Washington was everything we had hoped for, and more.
The staff at Hotel Washington collaborated with us in every sense of the word to make the boutique wedding of our dreams.

We had very specific ideas about what we wanted and they worked with us to make our unique vision come to life.
The Hotel is beautiful, there's nothing quite like it in Door County much less on Washington Island.
We were able to use the beautiful grounds to our full advantage. Our ceremony was on the picturesque front lawn, our reception was in the back, and our guests got to wander the grounds all night, a delight around every corner. On top of that they shut down the hotel for us for the weekend and we were able to have our groom's dinner in the cozy, perfectly appointed restaurant, which felt more dining room than dining out.
The food was the best wedding food we've ever had, and many of our guests agreed. The hotel had a beautiful array of locally sourced, in-season produce and were more than accommodating to our vegan and vegetarian requests.

Many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and that's in no small part because of the Hotel itself but more importantly, the people who run it.
Hotel Washington was an absolute gem, we're so glad we found it for our wedding. But even more special than the history and beautiful scenery, are the people who make it a home away from home.”

“We had the most perfect wedding experience from the planning to the wedding day. Amanda helped me plan a beautiful Sunday brunch wedding. She was there throughout the planning and also coordinated on the wedding day. Everything went so smoothly and was truly the best experience. She helped us come up with a brunch menu that was delicious and loved by all. The rest of the staff at the hotel were beyond amazing as well. Everyone was helpful, kind, warm and inviting. We felt like home our entire stay. If you’re looking to have a beautiful intimate wedding experience, the Hotel Washington is the perfect place in Door County for you.”
